General Questions

What does my IT department have to do?

Essentially nothing – SmarterU is a fully hosted application.  If you can access the Internet, you can access all the capabilities of SmarterU.

What does 99.9% uptime mean?

It means that our service will experience less than an hour of unplanned downtime during an entire  year.

Which browsers are supported?

All modern browsers, including Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Chrome are supported.

What mobile devices are supported?

All tablet devices are support for full display.  SmarterGames will currently not render on iPads.

How often are new releases issued?

Every month great new features are released – most of them are feature requests from our client base.

Is there online help?

We have a full online help system at help.smarteru.com

Account Management

Can I use my own URL to access our portal?

Yes, you can use your own portal login URL.

Can I customize the colour theme of my account?

Yes, choose from one of our existing themes, or customize your own.

What languages are supported by the SmarterU framework?

Your course material can be any language you wish, plus a student can choose to experience SmarterU in English, French or Arabic.

User Management

Can I group my users by location?

Sure – you can group your users by location, title, division, city and more.

What user permissions are available?

Many different permission levels are available to help you control who can create/manage courses, assign courses to learners, create new learners, view learner results and much more.

Can a user be associated with more than one account?

Yes – SmarterU will automatically present the user with options as to which account they wish to enter, and a user can switch to a different account at any time.

Course Management

How many courses can I create?

As many as you like.

What file types are supported and what are the size restrictions?

We support significantly large file sizes - Audio files greater than 10Mb and video files greater than 100Mb will result in an error message. 

Can I upload my own custom certificate?

Certainly – upload a PDF with form fields, and we’ll do the rest.

Can I import powerpoint modules?

Certainly – we provide you with step-by-step instructions.

Can I include narration with a text page?

Each text page prompts for corresponding narrational.

Can I group courses together?

Yes, you can group courses together, and also assign them as a group.

Can I build my courses in multiple languages?

Yes, we support multiple languages for course construction.

Can I include video in courses?

Absolutely – you can use remotely hosted video such as YouTube, or upload videos directly to your account.

Can I include custom flash animations in courses?

Certainly – simply upload a flash module to include in your elearning course.

Can I import content from third party tools?

Yes, you can import content from popular authoring tools.

Quizzing and Exams

What’s the difference between quizzes and exams?

Structurally they are the same – the only difference is that exams transfer marks.  Read the details.

Can I include more than one quiz per chapter or per course?

Yes – each course can include an unlimited number of quizzes anywhere in your course.

Can I set a time limit for quizzes?

Yes, you can specify how long a user has to complete a quiz.

Can I set the number of retries for exams?

Yes, you can set the number of retries a learner is allowed.

Can I set up a question pool for quizzes?

Absolutely – you can easily setup a question pool, plus also specify mandatory questions.
