Tracking Learner Progress

SmarterU makes it almost effortless to keep your fingers on the pulse of your learners' course progress.

Project-Level Notification

For those who want to know when a learner completes a course in a project, you can specify their email addresses in the project's settings.

Task-Level Notification

If you're looking for interim updates, you can configure any task to send a notification after learners complete the task.

To do this, select the task's Send Completion Notification checkbox. You'll then have the option to email the project contact and/or custom contacts.

Dig Into the Data

The Learner Report lets you view learners' progress at any time.

The report's filters give you control for which learners should be included in the results. Using the report's powerful drill-down capabilities you can quickly see which tasks the learner has completed. It's that easy!

No Need to Choose

Can't decide which option you prefer? Use all of them!

Contact Cards

We know your time is precious and added the contact card feature with that in mind. SmarterU's contact card feature looks simple but is incredibly powerful.

Instant Viewing

Contact cards make it easy for you to skim basic user information by hovering over user names anywhere in SmarterU.

If you need a summary of their course progress simply click the arrow in the contact card.

One-Click Reporting

Clicking on any of the numbers in the contact card's course summary automatically runs the Learner Report. No need to manually specify the learner or course progress for the report!

Powerful Quiz Enhancements

SmarterU's quiz task has been expanded to allow for proctoring and automation of marking long answer questions.

Proctoring

SmarterU's new proctoring feature gives you the ability to enable proctoring for a course

When the course's Enable Proctoring setting is selected, you can choose to enable proctoring at the quiz level.

Proctors can run the new Proctor Report to access proctor codes.

Long Answer Question Marking Automation

The long answer marking automation feature notifies potential markers when there is a quiz with long answer questions needing to be marked.

To support this feature, numerous settings have been added to quiz tasks.

Get Started

Proctoring and long answer marking automation are special components of SmarterU and are not included in the basic system.

To start using these features, contact support@smarteru.com to upgrade your account.

Easy as 1-2-3

Did you know that you can reuse your existing PowerPoint presentations in SmarterU?

Follow these three steps to make your existing PowerPoint presentations available in SmarterU.

Extract Images and Audio

First, you'll need to extract the images and audio from PowerPoint. When prompted, be sure to export every slide in your presentation.

Add SmarterU Course and Chapter

Next you'll want to add a SmarterU course and at least one chapter to house your PowerPoint presentation.

Add Tasks For Each Slide

Finally, you'll add tasks to your SmarterU course. Be sure to add a task for each slide in your presentation.

If your presentation has audio, you'll also want to upload the audio to SmarterU.

That's it! Using these steps, you can make your PowerPoint 2007 or PowerPoint 2010 presentations available in SmarterU.

Put Your Best Footer Forward

Footers

Don't overlook your footer just because it displays at the bottom of your courses' tasks. This week, we'll show you how to use footers to give your courses a common look that reflects your organization's branding.

Adding Your Footer

You can specify a footer that will be used for all your courses by uploading the image to your account

If you have a footer specifically for your course, you can upload the image in the Customization section of the Course Info page. The course footer will be used in place of your account footer.

Be sure that your footer's dimensions are 924x139 and that it is of one of the following file types:

  • gif
  • jpg
  • png
